We've arrived!

About three hours after we started we have arrived in Pangbourne complete with muddy boots, good job Andy brought us a change of shoes for the journey home.

What a good walk we liked the big houses on the other bank as we walked out of Reading and were intrigued at the stretch where there were houses alongside the river with houses on the hill behind them.  We wondered how the people in the houses on the hill mowed their lawns and, if they had motor mowers, whether they might press the accelerator too hard and end up in the gardens below!

We were amazed at the thought of Charles I playing bowls on the lawn running down to the Thames at Hardwick House.  Hardwick House is thought to be the model for Toad Hall so we were close to Ratty's house.  

Hazards along the way

It didn't really take 5 days to get this far.  I was just waiting for Catherine's photos.
We came across mud en route but the worst hazard was a water hazard and we spent so much time trying to figure out how to get across that we forgot to take a photo of it.  We decided it was a pity we didn't take our poles so we could have vaulted over it!

And they're off ......

Well we've found the River Thames and the Thames Path so we're all set to go.  Now which way is Pangbourne?

Here we are on Reading Brid(ge), thanks to Brendan.  The big day has finally arrived and we are about to find our way down to the river and start on our short 180 mile walk - well only 7 miles today.
